  • Heat Warning Set For Central

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for a large part of the Central region of the island including the Gander and the Grand Falls-Windsor regions, Bonavista North and the Buchans area, as well as Deer Lake and the Humber Valley.

Warm weather is expected to start the week and a warm southwesterly flow will bring temperatures in the upper 20s to much of central and northeastern Newfoundland today and tomorrow. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper teens and are expected for areas away from the coast tonight.

The public is cautioned to never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle under these conditions. Listeners are advised to monitor alerts and forecasts over the next few days to avoid heat related conditions.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, Environment Canada issues heat warnings if the temperature is expected to reach at least 26 degrees—or 34 degrees with humidex—for two or more days.
