Proposal Would Have Water & Boating Safety Taught In Schools

July 17th, 2018
  • There’s a recommendation before government to institute water and boating safety in our schools by grade 7.

A report by the Child Death Review Committee following the accidental drowning of a youth was given to the provincial government in May.

The report recommends the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development incorporate materials from the Lifesaving Society of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Drowning Research at least by grade 7.

The report has been forwarded to the Child and Youth Advocate.
