  • RNC Well Prepared For Field Sobriety Tests For Cannabis, Two Days From Legalization
  • The Chief of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says officers are well prepared to enforce field sobriety testing surrounding marijuana and cannabis products.

Marijuana becomes a legal product at one minute after midnight tomorrow but pursuing impaired driving is a tangly process.

Chief Joe Boland says they’ve been dealing with drivers impaired by drug for some time now.

He says patrol officers are trained and they have Drug Recognition Evaluators, while public awareness will be that much greater in the weeks ahead. He also expects the public to call police when they see someone driving impaired be it by alcohol or drug.
