  • Health Canada Offering Halloween Safety Tips -
  • Health Canada is reminding parents and caregivers of some important information with Halloween coming up the end of the month.

Health Canada Product Safety Officer, Susan Talbot, says Halloween is a fun and exciting time of year, and you can help keep little ones safe by planning the right outfit, avoiding danger when decorating and playing it safe while trick-or-treating.

Talbot suggests choosing costumes and accessories that are labelled flame-resistant, and says to avoid big and long costumes that children can trip over.

She says nylon or polyester costumes are best with bright colours that can easily be seen by drivers. You can also add reflective tape or get your child to carry a flashlight to increase visibility.

As for trick-or-treating, parents should always inspect the treats, and remove any choking hazards like gum, peanuts, hard candies or small toys from loot bags.
